The 10th highest peak in the world, Annapurna, is 8091 meters high and was first climbed by Herzog & Lachenal in 1950. The Annapurna is located in north-central Nepal, ranging from the Marshyangdi in the east to the Kali Gandaki in the west next to Lamjung Himal. The first eight-thousander to be climbed was Annapurna, which is close to Pokhara, the tourism city of Nepal. To the west of the Annapurna Sanctuary is where the main summit is located. The mountain contains glaciers on its western and northwestern sides that flow into a massive valley that the Kaligandaki River carved through the Himalaya.

Annapurna is one of the least climbed 8,000er peaks despite being the first 8,000er to be attempted. The mountain’s routes all present difficult climbing challenges, which is why, the Annapurnas are regarded as the most hazardous mountains in the world to climb because of their many fatalities and avalanche-prone peaks. According to renowned American climber Ed Viesturs, who in 1994 began a goal to ascend all fourteen 8000-meter peaks without using oxygen, Annapurna is extremely difficult to climb because of its glacial design. There are large ice cliffs and seracs, and the seracs are either leaning backward or forward. That’s what it boils down to.

As we travel from the Kaligandaki valley, we take the time to appreciate the hot springs that are there naturally, explore the icefall, and get to know the Thakali people and their way of life.

FAQ

I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

you may encounter single supplement fees when traveling to Nepal, especially if you prefer to have a private room instead of sharing accommodation with other travelers. Single supplement fees are additional charges that hotels and tour operators impose to cover the cost of a single occupancy room.

Which currency is most widely accepted on this tour?

– Nepali – Rupee (Rs)

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

Look for accommodations that offer dormitory-style rooms or single rooms at a reasonable price. Guesthouses, tea houses, and budget hotels often have options for solo travelers that are more affordable than high-end hotels.
